Week 8 Reflection

The GAME plan is well thought out map to guide my student on the path to self directed learning even at their young ages. (Laureate Education Inc., 2009). Implementing the GAME plan in my classroom helped me to develop skills needed to incorporate digital tools into my lessons.

I used the GAME plan to inspire my student to become  digital citizens.  My students are very young and often come to my classroom at the beginning of the year having never even touched a computer before. I had to teach them basic terms like "double-click", "URL", "icon" and "web address".  After some practice using www.starfall.com and Kidspiration, we were on our way to bigger and better things.

One area I would like to revise is getting my students to independently use social networking as a tool to promote digital citizenship to my young students.   The Game plan will help me with that.  Also it  is a great way to get parents get involved an to get them involved in their students online learning as well.  it is going to be exciting to use the GAME plan to bring this new goal to reality.

Hi room 222,

I often wonder if the demographics from your school are from a high-SES pull.  But you mention that some kids come having never touched a computer, which makes me think otherwise.

Enlighten me about your students.... Please.

Also, I wonder how many computers you have in your classroom, lab use, etc.

Best,

Hi,

This is really good that small children are  taught about computers but the best part is that they are taught from the basics of the computer. These things when taught with interest leave a good impact on the children...........

Thanks.
