Question - Pre Service Teacher

I am a future teacher, and a current undergraduate student at Illinois State University.  I just want to ask all of you, what are the biggest challenges that you face as  teachers? How do you deal with these struggles and challenges and do these conflicts make you better teachers?

As someone who taught 20

As someone who taught 20 years ago and then stayed home to raise a family, I would say that the biggest challenge I face today  is the parents of my students. I have many wonderful families that I work with but also a fair share of parents who aren't able to let their children feel the least bit of distress.  This sometimes leads to unreasonable demands.

I also would recommend to you that you take as many special education classes as possible.  I taught a self-contained special education LD class many years ago.  The students that I have in my regular education class have many more needs than my prior students did.  Having a special ed degree has always helped me get hired.  Good luck as you embark on your new career!
