My First Day Teaching

Well my first day is over and my head is swimming. A few things are for sure, I couldn't ask for a better staff or principal to work with and the building is a top notch facility. I must admit to feeling a bit overwhelmed though.

I think most of my feelings of unease come from a lack of specific knowledge about my schedule. I have a general idea, but as someone who craves details, not knowing the intricacies of my schedule bothers me. Needless to say I'm going to make it a top priority to get my schedule tomorrow represented in a visual way that is easy for me to understand. As a specialist who is here to help teachers get their planning time, I'll be seeing all the different grade levels and classes. I know that when I go in tomorrow and ask it is highly probably all of my questions will be answered. One of the reasons I didn't ask today was I was just trying to get acclimated with the building, curriculum, and the staff.

I'm sure once I get more comfortable with the schedule I'll be more comfortable. Then I'll need to get my curriculum map (scope and sequence of lessons) done. I'm sure I'll have plenty to blog about figuring that out. I'll keep you all posted, thanks for reading.
