Y5 ENGLISH:  Rewrite Biography:  Provide MORE information [Total: 500 words]

NOTICE to PARENTS:

  500 words is a lot of words, but I am confident that the students can do it.  If you disagree, please write me a nice note.

WRITING PROCESS:

  Writing is a process, which takes time.  I do NOT expect the students to get it right the first time.  Here is the writing process that we use:

(1)  Pre-writing:  (Get ideas)

(2)  Write a rough draft

(3)  Revise & Add More Information

(4)  Edit (Check spelling and grammar)

(5)  Publish (Read to the class or publish in a newsletter, for example)

We are in the 3rd stage:  (Revise and Add More Information)

Y6 ENGLISH :  Rewrite Explanation [300-500 words]

NOTICE TO PARENTS:

I now realize that maybe 500 words was a bit too much for the ESL students.  So, the ESL students may do only 300 words.

TODAY:  Today in class, I gave the students some ideas about how to provide MORE information.

Y5 AND Y6:  Spelling Test TOMORROW!

Studens should test themselves (look, cover, write); AND, students should have a family member test them.  If they miss a word, they should write it & say it as they write it 5 times.  Then, retest.
